Swim Meet This Saturday 5/11 vs. Cutten Green

Good Afternoon Stingray Parents-

Thank you everyone for an awesome time trial meet on Saturday.  Everything went well and we appreciate the volunteer help.  We cannot run the meet without you all.

Home Meet vs. Cutten Green – our meet is this Saturday, May 11th! Please make every effort to be at the meet, but if your swimmer cannot make it, please let a coach know. Swimmers will be entered in all events the coaches feel they are able to swim. Even if the swimmer is DQ’d, it is a great learning opportunity, and they will have a time so they can swim it again once the stroke is corrected. If you have any questions, please reach out to our coaches.

Volunteer positions are available on the website. Please sign up to volunteer ASAP! Remember, to receive your volunteer check back at the end of the season, you must fulfill the volunteer requirements. Once you are logged in to the website, click on the “Job Signup” button under the Green & Black Time Trials meet for a list of available positions. Please read the descriptions carefully. If all parts of the job are not complete, full credit will not be given. Please remember if you signed up for meet set up that we start on Friday evening.

Timeline for the meet this weekend:
6:30am – swimmers arrive at the pool, set up their area – bring tarps, canopies, chairs, etc. Setup is outside the pool area. Also, swimmers will find the coaches and have their event numbers written on their hand. Swim caps will be passed out to swimmers as well.
7:00am–7:30am - Team warmups – The coaches will usually divide the swimmers by age into two warm up groups. Swimmers should be on the pool deck, with cap and goggles on, ready to swim at their warmup time. Warmups end promptly at 7:30 so coaches have a minimum amount of time and lane space to get the whole team warmed up, please make sure they are ready to go on time.
7:30am-8:00am – Volunteers will have meetings to go over job positions, the computer room will be printing timing sheets, coaches will meet with the kids, do cheers, etc.

8:30am – meet begins. There is no way to tell what time a meet will end. Please do your part by making sure your swimmer is where they need to be so the meet is not held up (at a normal meet, they will not wait).

Things to bring to meets:

Swim cap and goggles

Sunscreen

Two towels per swimmer

Pop Up Tent and chairs

Cooler with ice – lots of water, fruit, healthy snacks, Gatorade, sandwiches

Meet Reminders:

The pool deck is for spectators only (come watch your child swim, then return to the team area).

Per NWAL rules and insurance, no swimmers are allowed on the playground during the swim meet. Please make your swimmer aware of this rule so there are no surprises when they are asked to get off.

Be sure to bring drinks and snacks to last throughout the meet. Swimmers are hungry and need to stay hydrated! We will have a concession stand available to purchase food and drink items.

Swimmers, please bring an extra pair of goggles and cap, sometimes they do break, and it is important to have a back up when you need it. We will be passing out caps before the meet begins. Wear a black, green, or black and green suit but this is not mandatory.

Be sure your child lets a coach know before they leave a meet. Last minute changes could be made for relays and your child might be needed to fill in. There are no relays at the Green & Black meet, but it is a good habit to get in to.

Please be sure to keep the team area clean! Bring a trash bag as the trash cans at the park fill up quickly. Let’s make sure we leave the park clean. A lot of times the pool will be open for neighborhood swimmers after we are done so let’s make sure it is very clean for them.

Please Park in the parking area on the other side of the playground where there is a sign saying North Spring first. Then parking on the street is acceptable but please be courteous to the residents and do not park in front of driveways or mailboxes.

If you don’t know, ask questions! Swim meets can be confusing at first but are a lot of fun. We have some experienced parents on the team who will be more than to answer your questions.

Looking forward to a great season!

As always, if you have any questions, please let us know.

See you at the pool!
